Family & Community Medicine, Master of Public Health Program, NM Cares Health Disparities and the RWJF Center for Health Policy presents-Implementing Health Reform in New Mexico: Challenges and Opportunities for Health Equity Thursday December 9, 2010 Domenici Center For Health Education room 3010 3:30-5:30 PM *The purpose of this briefing is to provide a venue for civic engagement and dialogue on reducing health disparities, promoting health equity and making evidence-informed health policy in New Mexico. This briefing supports “education in-service to our communities” by providing graduate students of the health and social sciences the opportunity to present state-of-the-art policy research to a public audience and to meaningfully engage with health leaders and other community stakeholders (PH 560 Health Policy, Politics & Social Equity, Dr. Lisa Cacari Stone). Input Requested for Health Strategy

December 8th – December 15th:
The Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama, creates a National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council (Council). The Council, composed of senior federal government officials and chaired by Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, is charged with developing a National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy (Strategy). Your input is being sought to contribute to the development of the Strategy. University of New Mexico Prevention Research Center (PRC) staff are collecting input for the Strategy from individuals throughout New Mexico at the request of the Under Secretary of Health, Region VI Director Ms. Marjorie Petty.
